One of the most recognisable buildings in the capital city, which also has office character - the Palace of Culture and Science - will be illuminated every day until further notice, informed the President of Warsaw Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.

On Thursday, 20th February, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz announced that in a gesture of solidarity with Ukraine, the most important symbol of the capital city will be illuminated in blue and yellow. The President of Warsaw posted the information about it on her social network profile.

It is the second time when the capital city authorities decided to express their solidarity with the Eastern neighbours in such a way. For the first time, it took place on 4 December, several days after the demonstrations in Kiev began. However, this illumination was only temporary. This time, the Ukrainian colours will illuminate the Palace of Culture and Science for much longer. The Palace will be illuminated every day until further notice, informed the President of Warsaw.

The Palace of Culture and Science is not the only place in the capital city, where the Poles express their support for the Ukrainians. Near the embassy, there are manifestations every day, and on Nowy Świat Street 63, there is the Information Centre for the citizens of Ukraine. There, they can receive legal and psychological aid and information about, among other, medical and social care, as well as the help of interpreters.

According to the opposition, on Thursday, 20 February 2014, at least 75 people were killed on the Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kiev, and there are hundreds of the wounded. The number of the injured in the fights with the militia is still growing.
