The Warsaw developer, that is ICON Real Estate is going to modernize a historical tenement house in which a famous poet Miron Białoszewski used to live. An office is to be realized in the building.

Developer's plans arouse anxiety among inhabitants of the capital city who are afraid of demolition of the tenement house owned by Białoszewski, the history of which dates back to the beginning of the XXth. c. In the building there is i.a. a historical tiled stove which was immortalized by the poet in one of his poems.

Information about alleged demolition of the monument was denied by developer. He announced that neither tenement house nor tiled stove in the apartment of Miron Białoszewski will be demolished. And quite the opposite – the stove will be exhibited in such a way that all inhabitants of Warsaw could admire it. Moreover, the tenement house which has not been rebuilt for over 100 years will now be renovated under the supervision of Mariusz Ścisło, Chairman of Association of Polish Architects.

According to official announcement, Emanuel Grykin – Member of the Board of Icon Real Estate – emphasizes a bad condition of the building. Our activities are aimed at giving the tenement house a new function and maintain this historical structure. Both tiled stove owned by Miron Białoszewski and historical adornments are added value for us. The tiled stove – well hidden in a private apartment to which no one (except for the owner) has an access – will be now exposed in the area of the public building. The similar historical details will be secured during repair works and exhibited in the final appearance of the building – says Emanuel Grykin.

Among alleged information there is also a rumor that residents of the tenement house will be evicted. However, the developer convinces that he concluded agreements with each of the residents within which – as we may read in the announcement – the tenants received very attractive financial conditions or other benefits.

The building is located at Poznańska 37 Street between Aleje Jerozolimskie and Nowogrodzka Street. It has five aboveground tiers. The developer is going to develop one more tier above them as well as entresol. In the courtyard of the building with a glazed roof there will be a reception with entresol. Moreover, service premises are planned on the ground floor of the tenement house as well as offices on the higher floors.
