Echo Investment has been fined for cutting an oak at Francuska Street in Katowice.

Echo Investment carries out works on A4 Business Park project located at Francuska Street in Katowice. As part of the works the company cut, having no proper permissions, an oak growing on the plot. The city authorities imposed a fine of 39 732 PLN on the company.

The city agreed upon cutting the trees at the construction site, in total the company paid for that 800 000 PLN and was entrusted to plant approximately 200 trees and 400 bushes – explains Wojciech Gepner, Public Relations Manager at Echo Investment. The mentioned tree was not included in the permission we got and it was cut because earlier, while digging, it has been damaged to such an extend it could fall any moment which was a real danger for the workers.

Indeed, there was a discrepancy between the actions undertaken and the administrative process but we did not want to create an impression that the company cuts trees lawlessly or conducts any other actions inconsistent with the procedures – says Wojciech Gepner.

A4 Business Park is a business complex which eventually will comprise of three buildings. A nine-storey office building providing 9000 square meters of space and 153 parking lots will be erected at the first stage of the project. The complex was designed by DDJM studio from Kraków. Remax Construct is the general contractor of the first stage. The first stage is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2014. The complex meets the requirements of BREEAM certification.
