Sustainable development and green construction are two paramount goals for Lafarge. Thereby, the company has chosen a new office with green certificate BREEAM Interim and relocated its Warsaw head office to West Station II.

Lafarge has occupied 1400 sq. m on the 13th floor in West Station II. This new Warsaw office of Lafarge is the next step in building a culture of cooperation and good communication between all employees and departments in our organization. This is also the next stage in implementation of our strategy which places people in the center of organization. The architecture supports culture based on openness, exchange of knowledge and joint seeking for creative solutions and innovations. We have chosen the building and the people responsible for the interior design with great care. This place is created in compliance with the idea of sustainable development and green construction which are of great importance to us. This is all consistent with our adopted strategy which allows us to implement our objectives – says Federico Tonetti, Chairman of the Board of Lafarge in Poland.

Lafarge had commissioned Colliers International to do the research called work space solution before the removal, which was to point out the work modes, work practices and needs of employees. According to the research, there were not enough common areas in the foregoing head office as well as insufficient number and too large conference halls. The new office was to be a response to the results of the conducted research. The space in West Station was divided in such a way to create 15 conference rooms and common space for employees (dining area, agora and place for entrainment and relaxation).

In Design was responsible for design project of the office. The plan reflected three key words: light (bright and spacious office), joy (balance between working life and private life) and inspiration (exchange of thoughts, ideas and creativeness). There are natural elements in the office such as concrete (which refers to the company's business activity) and wood (which perfectly tones in with the concrete). The interior is full of soft colors and green elements. What is more, work study and specific needs of different groups of employees were also taken into consideration while planning the project.

West Station is a joint project of HB Reavis, PKP SA and Xcity Investment, which is situated at the Warsaw Dworzec Zachodni railway station. The total investment offers 68 000 sq. m of office space. The project is awarded with the green certificate BREEAM Interim at the Excellent level.
