APA Wojciechowski won the Architectural Firm of the Year
The second CEE Green Building Awards ceremony, organized by EuropaProperty, took place on December 29.

Hotel Marriott has witnessed an unusual event. On December 29, more than 200 professionals in the property industry gathered to participate in the CEE Green Building Awards ceremony, organized by EuropaProperty. Prizes were awarded in 18 categories and the winners come from the region of Central and Eastern Europe.

Ceremony was led by PropertyEuropa journalist Craig Smith and Paul Stamm of Stamm Foundation.46 awards were distributed, of which 37 were awarded to regional projects and nine for the first time, was awarded in the category of Company of the Year, for the best companies involved in green building industry.

The great success of this year was Skanska company, that appeared on the podium, to pick up trophies for 7 times.Skanska was awarded in the categories such as: Developer of the Year, for the continued demonstration of concern for the environment and energy efficiency in their projects.

Three statues was given to Echo Investment, for its office buildings in Poland. Also HB Reavis, Slovak developer, visited the podium twice.

Most awards were given to the office buildings in Warsaw, highlighting the position of the capital city as the location for the largest green building in the region. An example is the complex Plac Unii, run by the European developer Liebrecht & wooD and BBI Development NFI S.A. CEE Green Building Award is extremely valuable to us as it confirms the great importance we attach to implementation of the latest environmentally friendly solutions for our investments - says Marc Lebbe, Managing Director of Liebrecht & wooD - At present, tenants are increasingly opting for offices in 'green' buildings, because certified facilities provide lower operating costs, consuming an average of 40% less water and up to 50% less energy than conventional buildings. We are convinced, that this award is a great business card for each investment.

Shopping centers were also awarded, among others, M1 centers of Metro Property. M1 centers were awarded in connection with the BREEAM certificates assigned to them. Companies associated with offices and service retail facilities in Romania were also awarded.

Prizes were also awarded in the category of Company of the Year. Edgar Rosenmayr, Managing Director of Kulczyk Silverstein Properties, winner of the Investor of the Year award, said that receiving this award reinforces the firm in the belief that they are heading in the right direction. This gives them motivation to continue the hard work, during which they will emphasise  the sustainable development and gaining environmental certificates.

Ceremony was preceded by a morning Investment and Occupier Forum during which approximately 80 property professionals took part in panels and presentations on current trends in sustainable development. The conclusion of the forum allows us to say, that we should focus not only on sustainable construction, but in general on the development of "green" communities and cities. It is important here to draw attention to urban concentration, which favors the environment and man more than creating vast suburbs.

Green Building Awards Awards included not only completed projects, but also those, being implemented and planned. Ceremony is a response to the growing interest and demand for sustainable construction and statues were given to those projects, that have received certification of LEED, BREEAM or other, related systems.

Projektant :
