The City of Szczecin adopted a resolution concerning exemption from a property tax of structures with ecological certificates such as LEED and BREEAM. It is the only city in the country and one of the first cities in Europe which decided to implement such a solution. The adopted resolution introduces possibility of gaining exemption from the tax to all entrepreneurs who realize office and conference investments for the period of 3 years. Investors will gain it only after completion of their projects. Interestingly, better conditions of the exemption were suggested in the case of buildings which have already been awarded LEED Gold and BREEAM Very Good. The aim of the resolution is to promote development of companies in Szczecin as well as to encourage entrepreneurs from all over the world to invest on the area of the Municipality of Szczecin. The resolution will remain in force until 31st December 2017.
The adopted resolution is compliant with the strategy called Floating Garden 2050, which is aimed at support of development in Szczecin basing on high quality of life. In result, the city should promote green construction which meets the highest standards.
One of the crucial aims of the strategy in the area of creating new working places in the city is expansion of the sector of modern services for business – industries such as BPO/IT.SSC. A lot of modern offices in Szczecin have been realized within recent years, which definitely favors development of this sector. However, companies from BPO/IT/SSC are characterized by a significant dynamics of increase in employment. Therefore, it is important to offer a possibility of gaining new office space on the market. Offices realized on the market in Szczecin are almost completely rented and thus the city supports and promotes realization of new structures.
