The ceremony of placing the foundation stone under Gdynia Waterfront project, which symbolizes the official start of the construction works, took place on September 3rd.

The ceremony of placing the foundation stone under a new office and hotel project, belonging to SwedeCentre, took place on September 3rd, at the Basen Prezydenta in Gdynia. According to the tradition, the foundation stone is accompanied by a time capsule containing the groundbreaking plaque, a pen-drive with the documentation and visualizations of the project, and a current issue of a local newspaper. The first stage of Gdynia Waterfront complex is scheduled to be completed in mid 2015.

I am sure that Gdynia Waterfront is a future centre of business, services, recreation and meetings of the residents of the city and tourists who are so eager to visit the place. Prestigious location near Kościuszki Square, modern architecture and well-planned public space with direct access to the waters will create a unique climate of the place and will ensure that the complex will be a colorful, vibrant heart of the city – says Roger Anderson, Managing Director of SwedeCenter.

Gdynia Waterfront will be a multi-functional complex amounting to approx. 90 000 square meters. It will feature office space, a hotel, residential buildings and commerce and services zones. There will be also culture and leisure facilities. The first stage includes the construction of Marriott Courtyard hotel with a conference centre, operated by Scandinavian Hospitality Management, and an office building which is planned to house the headquarters of Nordea Bank Polska.

SwedeCenter, forming part of Inter IKEA Group, is not only the developer and the investor but also the future manager of the facilities. The architectural design of the first stage of Gdynia waterfront was developed by Pracownia Projektowa FORT. PORR Polska is the general contractor.
