Cracow knows how to get rid of smog

Town councilors adopted a resolution about introduction of free public communication at large dust concentration PM10 in the air.

Town councilors adopted a resolution about introduction of free public communication at large dust concentration PM10 (small atmospheric particulate) in the air. The project was initiated by the President of the City Jacek Majchrowski.

In accordance with the resolution prepared by the councilors, free public communication is to be provided if the average norm for the particulate PM10 amounts to more than 150 µg/m3 on three stations controlling quality of the air. Free communication will be also introduced in the case when dust concentration exceeds 200 µg/m3 only on one station. Results from the last day between 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. will be taken into consideration at measurement. It is worth mentioning that the acceptable level of the average daily concentration for the dust PM10 amounts to 50 µg/m3 and it may be exceeded not more than 35 times within a year.

Free communication will be envisaged within the next 24h from the midnight even if it turns out that the forecasted dust concentration is lower. It will be provided for all travelers using public communication on the area of the capital of Little Poland and neighboring boroughs which signed the agreement concerning common realization of the public transport.

The resolution about free public communication will come into force three days after its publishing in the Official Journal of the Little Poland Voivodship.
