Members of the Commission for Innovations and Use of EU Funds want to expand Cracow Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The application concerning extension of SEZ by 8 ha was submitted by „Bieżanów” Kolejowe Zakłady Nawierzchniowe. Thanks to a new project of Bieżanów enterprise, the trains could gather speed of over 200 km/h. The company would like to build a hall, invest over 30 million zlotys and hire several dozen people. The councilors complied with the submitted application and made a motion to a president concerning expansion of the zone.

Moreover, members of the Commission for Innovations and Use of EU Funds accepted during a yesterday's meeting a general plan of work of the Commission till the year 2018. The Chairman of the Commission emphasized that startups, smart city, EU means and Cracow project – Nowa Huta Przyszłości are priorities. However, thanks to suggestions of some councilors like Bogusław Kośmider, other points were also considered as priorities. These are cooperation with universities and innovation institutions from Cracow as well as Vistula river as a source of transport.
