The best designs of 2011 has been chosen

The winner will be chosen in September. The prizewinner will be announced at a gala combined with exhibition of projects.

“Dobry Wzór” is a Polish nationwide competition held since 1993 and organised by Instytut Wzornictwa Przemysłowego. The aim of the contest is to indicate the products and services designed in the best way possible and on the Polish market. Institute experts who throughout the entire year analyse trends choose participants. Prizes are given in four categories: Sfera Domu (The House Circle), Pracy (Job), Publiczna (Public) and Usług (Services).

The honorary patron of the competition is Minister of Economy of Poland who annually gives the special award “Dobry Wzór” – which is intended for a product that was created by Polish designer and produced by Polish company. President of the Institute of Industrial Design awards the best designer or design studio with “Designer Roku” (“Designer of the Year”) for the best practices in collaboration on the line designer – business. The final event of the contest is the exhibition, which presents the best products and services.

This year edition is the 18th one for which 800 of products and 80 services have been chose and which, according to the expert, meet the criteria of good design. One of the finalists is a chair Lite, which was designed by InsideLab, an architectural studio from Cracow. Designers are allowed to use the graphic symbol “finalista konkursu Dobry Wzór” (“the finalist of the Dobry Wzór contest”) as well as the expertise of the product prepared by Instytut Wzornictwa Przemysłowego (The institute of Industrial Design).

The final gala, during which the winner will be chosen, is going to be held in IWP, Warsaw on 21 September. It will be accompanied by the opening ceremony of “Dobry Wzór 2011”, which will be open for visitors from 22 September to 22 November
