The project of a new Ratusz Marszałkowski in the Mazovian Voivodship in Cracow received the BREEAM Excellent certificate. The investment received 73.3 per cent by the new and more strict assessment BREEAM International NC 2013. The complex of buildings of the new Ratusz Marszałkowski, which was designed by HORIZONE Studio and Małeccy Biuro Projektowe, is the first certified public structure. The project received the ecological certificate at such a high level thanks to e.g. advanced technological solutions (e.g. tri-generation as a source of energy, cooling and electric energy, digital lighting steering system DALI based on LED sources), full steering of building's work integrated within BMS as well as numerous innovative architectural solutions which enabled receiving of such a high grade in so called „soft” categories (lighting, acoustics, materials and development of the area).
We – as designers – believe that the most crucial is the information that the BREEAM Excellent level was reached without any necessity of introduction major changes in the project in relation to competition conception from October 2013. It means that our assumptions concerning energy-saving, ecology and quality of architectural solutions were right from the very beginning – says Bartłomiej Kisielewski, partner in Horizone Studio. The consultant for sustainable construction was Visio Architects & Consultants. Moreover, Grontmij was responsible for devising a necessary report for BREEAM certification.
The new Ratusz Marszałkowski will hold rooms of Sejmik of the Mazovian Voivodship, Zarząd Województwa, headquarters of departments of Urząd Marszałkowski, local authorities, shops, gastronomy and kindergarten. The complex of structures will be composed of three buildings with the total area of 46 000 sq. m. The realization of the investment is planned on the second half of 2016. The investor of the project is Regional Administrative Center „Małopolska”.
