A famous architect Zaha Hadid died at the age of 65 on 31st March this year. The reason for her sudden death was heart attack.

Internationally known architect Zaha Hadid has passed away. She died on 31st March this year in the early morning in the hospital in Miami, where she has been treated for bronchitis. The reason for her sudden death was heart attack.

 

Zaha Hadid was born in Bagdad in 1950. She studied mathematics at the American University in Beirut. Hadid started her journey with architecture in 1972 at the Architectural Association in London. She gained international fame due to theoretical works such as The Peak in Hong Kong (1983), Kurfürstendamm in Berlin (1986) and Cardiff Bay Opera House in Wales (1994). Hadid's most famous works are e.g. Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London, Guangzhou Opera House in China, Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati (USA), BMW Central Building in Lipsk or MAXXI – National Museum of the 21st Century Arts in Roma. Her Polish project is Lilium Tower, a skyscraper which was to be realized in the Warsaw Śródmieście district at the crossroads of Chałubińskiego Street and Aleje Jerozolimskie in close proximity to Marriott hotel.

 

Zaha Hadid was the first woman who won the Pritzker Prize – she received it in 2004. Hadid was also honored twice with the most prestigious prize in Great Britain – RIBA Stirling Prize (for MAXXI in Roma and Evelyn Grace Academy).
