Much is said about the dynamic economic development of Krakow in the past several years, but it's worth remembering that business has been an important factor in the history of our city. Several hundred years ago Krakow was a thriving city and major commercial center of the country.

Much is said about the dynamic economic development of Krakow in the past several years, but it's worth remembering that business has been an important factor in the history of our city. Several hundred years ago Krakow was a thriving city  and major commercial center of the country.

Hence the idea to organize the exhibition '"Expositio Buma" - Entrepreneurship in Cracow's architecture'.  In our project, we want to show Krakow as a city strongly connected with entrepreneurship, as well as with the well known cultural heritage - said Piotr Michalski, a representative of the Buma Group, during the vernissage combined with the opening of the Onyx office building, which was put into operation in Autumn 2008.

The honorary patrons of the exhibition "Expositio Buma" were: Mayor of the City of Krakow prof. D. reader Jacek Majchrowski,  Rector of Cracow University of Technology prof. D. reader Engr. Kazimierz Furtak and the Regional Chamber of Architects for Lesser Poland. The Jury of the competition included: architect Zenon Remi (jury chairman), prof. Andrew Wyżykowski (Chief Architect for the city of Cracow), prof.Leszek Mikulski (Vice-rector for Student Affairs Cracow's University of Technology), Borys Czarakcziew (Chairman of the Malopolska Regional Chamber of Architects), editor Jaroslaw Knap (from a monthly magazine 'Małopolski Przegląd Nieruchomości') and editor Adam Urbanik (from a regional TV channel 'TVP Krakow').

The exhibition was created in late 2008 and 2009 from the initiative of academic and scientific circles of the Cracow's University of Technology. Its aim is to promote architecture of Cracow related to enterpeneurship in business environment. Within five weeks young architects, from among 35 options designated by the event's organizer, chose and created 20 artworks depicting historical and contemporary locations of Cracow associated with entrepreneurship. The artworks were created with the use of various techniques like pastels, oil paints or pencil drawings. The most popular properties presented by the students were: Biprostal building, Sukiennice and Kamienica Margrabska.

Jury has chosen three winners. Their authors, all student's of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Cracow's University of Technology, were awarded cash prizes. First place was taken by third year student Konrad Stafiński, the second - student of the first year Anna Wójcik  and the third also first-year student Marcin Kitala.

I believe that 'Expositio Buma' will contribute to the promotion of Cracow as a place for dynamic business development - said Piotr Michalski - We plan to promote this exhibition among business and other circles.

After the Onyx office, the artworks will be exhibited in other business related places in Cracow, such as Rondo Business Park and Buma Square office buildings.
