Many streets in Polish cities are more and more beautiful year by year. Positive changes also relate to entire districts. Are elegant solids of modern offices one of the ways to restore prestige to such places?

Modernization in the City of Gdańsk

The redevelopment of C200 Office was completed in Gdańsk last year. It is an example of revitalization of a building which has been serving Remontowa Shipbuilidng SA for many years. As we can read on the website of this investment: “Modernization of C200 Office is an example of ambitious plans of new development of post-industrial areas, which are typical for many European cities, such as Oslo, London, Hamburg, or Copenhagen, which allow to gain the best locations for the city structure, and, at the same time, take care of cultural heritage.” The post-shipyard areas in Gdańsk are characterized by attractive location, thus the process of revitalization of such space is of great importance. C200 Office has a modern elevation with the illumination in LED technology, which distinguishes it against other developments in the neighborhood. Thanks to revitalization, it has become a “decoration” of this place as well as a modern and comfortable work place.

ZEFIR is another building commissioned last year. It perfectly fits the development of the historical region of Gdańsk. ZEFIR is sometimes called a new showpiece of Stare Przedmieście. As Krzysztof Paul, Chairman of the Board of Unimor Development, observes during the interview with e-biurowce.pl (more: Pomerania Office Park – a new work place on the office map of Tricity), “Thanks to unique architecture, especially very characteristic and modern facade, ZEFIR substantially changes the image of Stare Przedmieście, which has been the forgotten region of Gdańsk for many years.” The office fits the revitalization assumptions adopted by the authorities of the City of Gdańsk for the area of Stare Przedmieście.

Post-industrial beauty

Nowadays, operations aimed at restoration of the former beauty to industrial districts are conducted in many cities. Unfortunately, these are often unused and destroyed factories with buildings which uglify the streets. However, one of the practices from the area of sustainable development in architecture is readaptation of such buildings. After revitalization, they perform new functions and they have a positive impact on the image of a given district. The example of such building is Centrum Biznesowe Kopcińskiego. This building has been close to “technical death”, however, thanks to the investor (HAMMERMED Nieruchomości), it was renovated. Thereby, instead of an old factory, the inhabitants of Łódź can admire the office which offers modern space for business.
