The General Motors Shared Services Center was officially opened in Tychy. The Center will be responsible for the service of over 20 local units of the Opel/Vauxhall company in Europe.

The Center will be responsible for servicing of over 20 local units of the Opel/Vauxhall company in Europe and it will become a place of the first contact for employees in all kinds of personnel and payroll issues. Moreover, it will be also engaged in management of data, clearance of business trips and trainings. The Center has hired 90 consultants so far (as a target, there will be 120 of them).

We are very glad about the fact that General Motors is extending the scope of its business activity in Poland and it is not only limited to the traditional activity related to the production of cars. The new Shared Services Center means new work places for inhabitants of the region. It is another evidence of a considerable engagement of GM in Poland and confirmation that the investor-friendly environment was realized thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Economy – pointed out Jerzy Majchrzak during the opening ceremony.

Ulrich Schumacher, vice-chairman in the Opel Group for personnel issues and chairman for work relationships, added: We are very pleased that we managed to concentrate the important part of our services for Europe exactly here – in Poland. This investment is another evidence which confirms the important role of Poland in the international network of the Opel/Vauxhall company.

The newly opened General Motors Shared Services Center constitutes a part of GM Manufacturing Poland and it is located on the area of the workshop in Tychy. At present, GM Manufacturing Poland is hiring 3900 people in three departments: workshop which produces cars in Gliwice, factory of engines in Tychy and in a newly opened Shared Services Center in Tychy. The workshop in Gliwice is going to start the production of a new generation of Opel Astra in the second half of this year.
