According to the newest research by Dodge Data & Analytics and United Technologies Corporation with World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) as a research partner, the number of green buildings will double increase by the end of 2018. The ecological building is currently treated as a sign of sustainable development and high social awareness. The conducted study shows differences between regions, however, the progress in the area of green construction planned for the nearest years is noticeable in each of them. Out of the countries of the European region, the special attention was paid to Poland, Germany and Great Britain. According to prognoses, development of green construction will be more regular in Poland in comparison to two other countries. This expansion is dominated by the commercial sector – stimulated by awareness of business profits from influencing on people and environment. The analysis of present and former research concerning the condition of green construction in the world from 2012 presents that this concept is still developing. It is worth mentioning that Poland was taken into account in this report for the first time. The envisaged increase in the market of green construction will be mainly stimulated by countries where the green market is still being developed: Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, Saudi Arabia, Southern Africa, China, or Indie. It is noticeable in the significant growth in the number of planned investments which are to be realized in this field in the mentioned countries. Another interesting notion presented in the report is that the global market of green construction is double increased every three years. According to the research, the most dynamically developing sector of the market is the office one – almost half of the respondents (46 per cent) are planning to realize a green office project in the nearest three years. The most important reason for which green buildings are being realized is reduction of electricity consumption, whereas the second reason is saving of resources, and then decrease in water consumption.

Green Building Councils and its members all over the world play a crucial role in maintenance of dynamics concerning pace of development envisaged for green construction. Their leadership and professionalism will be crucial in a continual realization of social and economic profits for the natural environment offered by green buildings – sums up Terri Wills, CEO, WorldGBC.

The research was conducted on the sample of more than 1000 participants from 69 countries. Green Building Councils and its members (architects, entrepreneurs, owners and engineers) also participated in the study.
