The peak of Rondo 1 reached !

Fabio Ruga from Italy and Anna Ficner from Poland won II edition of Szczyt Rondo 1 in Warsaw – the only event of Masters Race rank in Poland which is a part of the World Towerrunning Cup.

The representative of Italy has run up 836 stairs of Rondo 1 in 00:03:39,53, and it took 00:05:08,59 to the polish competitor to reach 37th floor. In men’s category second and third places belong  to the competitors from Czech Republic – Tomas Celco and Viktor Nowotny. In women category Cristina Bonacina the previous year winner placed herself on 2nd place and just after her came a polish debutant – Aleksandra Jakubczak.


Poland was represented, among others, by Piotr Lobodzinski and the last year’s winner – Bartosz Swiatkowski who placed themselves in 4th and 6th places. There was also a competitor who run the entire way dressed in full american army uniform.


The race began at 10 a.m. and the contestants were starting with 15 seconds intervals between each other.  Next stage was the final runs for 12 fastest men and 12 fastest women.  They were starting simultaneously unlike in the previous run. Such 2 stage formula is a requirement of the World Towerruning Cup rules.


Approximately 600 people took part in the race and they were to cover the distance of 440m, including 250m by stairs.  All the money collected on race entrance fees which is 18 000 zl will be given to charity Stowarzyszenie SOS Wioski Dzieciece.
