Unique project of an ecological office building

In New Jersey there is a very original office building – Centra Metropark – shape of which brings to one’s mind… a tree.

The five-storey office building, which now holds LEED certificate, has undergone a renovation. Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) and DeSimone Consulting Engineers are the authors of the design.

The building offers 10 000 sqm of space and has a unique form which utilizes an asymmetrical tree-column. The fourth floor, supported by the abovementioned column, is extended over the lower floors. The ground-level grand entry plaza is full of sunlight thanks to a rectangular hole carved in the fourth floor.

The office building received the highest rating, Platinum, in the LEED rating system. During the demolition of existing structures, their components have been recycled. The steel structure has been preserved and strengthened and a glass façade with good parameters has been added.

The building is the first part of a future business park, also designed by KPF.
