JESSICA for Gliwice

Bank Ochrony Środowiska supports Gliwice's image within the JESSICA project.

There has begun already the fourteeenth project within JESSICA initiative, signed by Bank Ochrony Środowiska. The aim of the newest project is over 5 mln PLN's worth refurbishment of the buildings located in downtown Gliwice, along with creating there modern spaces for small and medium enterprises. It is the sixth initiative in this region, this time with the object of refreshing the image of Gliwice.

The buildings in question are located at 44 Pszczyńska Street. Within the frameworks of the project, a devastated office building will be renovated and modern office and service spaces for rent will be created. In addition, parking places will be created in the place of the building, which will be demolished. The investment aims at refurbishment of this part of the town and creation of spaces attractive for small and medium enterprises.

The cost of the investment will come to 5,5 mln PLN, 1,75 mln PLN of which is a loan from JESSICA's finance.

Up to this moment, Bank Ochrony Środowiska has organised within JESSICA initiative in Poland 14 contracts , the total amount of which came to almost PLN 166 million. Simultaneously, BOŚ made available its own resources to the amount of about PLN 156 million. Four initiatives were signed in Świnoujście, along with one per Gliwice, Kamień Pomorski, Kołobrzeg, Jastrzębie Zdrój, Świętochłowice, Czechowice-Dziedzice, Tychy, Pruszcz Gdański, Kościerzyn and Katowice.

What does the JESSICA initiative consist in? It is a repayable financial instrument created by the European Commission, the European Investment Bank and the Council of Europe Development Bank. Its aim is to support sustainable investment in urban areas and to realise investments in urban projects, taken into consideration in integrated development plans for urban areas.
