Unemployment at its lowest level for 8 years

The unemployment rate amounted to 8.8 per cent in June 2016. According to the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy (MRPiPS), it has been the best result since October 2008.

Unemployment decreased in all voivodships in the country, especially in e.g.: Pomorskie, Zachodniopomorskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie and Małopolskie. It is worth mentioning that decline was also recorded in Warmińsko-Mazurskie (by 0.7 percentage points), where unemployment is currently at its highest level for years. The biggest increase in job offers was recorded in Opolskie, where the number of vacancies increased up to 81.3 per cent in regard to the previous month.

 

Unemployment fell below 9 per cent in June, which means that it is the best result for 8 years. It is great information which inspires us with optimism about the future labor market in Poland – says Elżbieta Rafalska, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy. The number of the unemployed decreased in every voivodship. The biggest decrease was recorded in Pomorskie, where it amounts to 5.7 per cent (4.1 thousand people).

 

The unemployment rate totaled 8.8 per cent in June 2016, which indicates a decrease by 0.3 percentage points in comparison to May this year. However, it is lower by 1.4 percentage points in comparison to June last year. Considering May 2016, the number of the unemployed decreased by 62.8 thousand people and it amounted to 1.39 million people in June this year. Employers have submitted 146.5 thousand vacancies and places of professional activation to the Labor Offices in June this year, which indicates an increase by 20.2 thousand vacancies in comparison to May this year.
