The reconstruction of the old china factory in Katowice has begun

The renovation is connected with the creation of Industry and Technology Park Silesian China Park.

In the first stage of reconstruction two buildings will be modernized – an office building of the former factory's owners and the so called 'stables', which up to now has served as a storage room.

The structure created in 1980's will get new anthracite elevation, vertical windows and a white corridor running across the building. The building will be located near many paths and birch groves. In the project we can see that this place is supposed to represent the entire post-factorial complex. The office building, the only element of the Technologies Park, will not have a brick elevation.

The second structure under reconstruction – stables built on the beginning of the 20th century – will remain its brick elevation. The building will be the seat of Giesche Foundation, which is responsible for the creation of the park and manages the area.

The project also includes the creation of about 100 parking spots. A total investment space will reach 8787 sqm (including the parking lots and green areas around the buildings). The project has been created in TTAT and SXL from Katowice.

We are now going from the planning stage to actual works. We've taken this area over in the middle of the previous year and finally we're able to start the reconstruction. We'll see some results in the next year – said Rafał Wyszyński, Head of Giesche Foundation.

After the end of buildings' reconstruction in the 2015, one will be able to make use of creative branch workshops, IT research lab, design lab as well as Design and Mobility Centre.

On the process of the investment's creation, Giesche Foundation is cooperating with Economic University in Katowice, Fine Arts Academy in Katowice and a department of Katowice's Social Psychology High School. The foundation has received the founding from Regional Operations Program for Silesian Province on the realization of the investment 'The Creation of Industry and Technology Silesian China Park'.
