Many authorities took part in the event, including minister Maria Elżbieta Orłowska, minister Tomasz Tomczykiewicz, President of the City of Cracow professor Jacek Majchrowski, the ambassador of the Korean Republic Young-Sun Paek and the President of Samsung Electronics Polska Daniel Chung. An official letter of the President of Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, has been read. In the letter, the president has expressed his hopes concerning the future cooperation of Korea and Poland.
We appreciate the fact, that the presence of Samsung in Poland is not limited only to the product sale, but also includes the production with the help of our specialists and highly qualified employees. Moreover, our cooperation also includes the presence of the company in the area of research and development which increases the Poland's competitiveness. Together, by the exchange of experiences and knowledge we have a chance to develop new technologies and make the economies of both countries more innovative, which in broader perspective means the increase of our global competitiveness - we can read in the letter.
The Cracow's office will try to develop the software for Internet infrastructure for the leading operators of mobile phones in the whole Europe. The Center will require a significant amount of specialists from sectors of telecommunication, built-in systems software and programmers.
We've been present in Poland for the last 13 years and we're constantly increasing the number of employees. At this moment we hire a total of 1000 highly qualified engineers. The fact that Samsung has decided to invest so much in Poland is caused by the high level of technical qualifications of the employees and atmosphere beneficial for investments - said Dae-Hyun Sim, Managing Director of Research and Development Center Samsung Polska.
The Cracow's office is the fourth research and development center of Samsung in Poland, after Warsaw, Poznań and Łódź.
